Our Story
As a result of two generations of family members afflicted with MS, the Lombardi Party originated as a single person walking alone in the MS Challenge Walk in 2006 to honor Carl, Jr. and Carmella. The MS Challenge Walk is an annual event held on Cape Cod that brings together over 600 people who raise money for the National MS Society. Our Team, The Lombardi Party, has grown to dozens of walkers in 2012 with an even larger network of friends, sponsors, and supporters. Unfortunately, the disease has advanced to a third generation and we remain committed to stop MS, restore what's been lost, and end MS forever.
Our Challenge
Our challenge is twofold: training for a 3 day, 50 mile walk; and letting folks know that we need their help. Our team believes that there are many ways to promote the cause. Send out email, use your Facebook page, make phone calls, or just talk to people about our fund-raising events and why we need their help.
The National Multiple Sclerosis Society
The MS Society funds more MS research than any other private organization. They also provide much needed education, programs, and services to everyone who is affected by MS - including those living with and fighting MS, their friends and families, and the healthcare professionals who work with them.
A Lesson Learned
This is our fifth year and the key to our success is exposure. Of course we are trying to raise as much money as possible but our success is the result of the people who are involved. The Lombardi Party is not just the team of walkers in the MS Challenge Event. It is the donors, the sponsors, our friends, and especially our families who are always there asking the question, "You are going to do this again next year, aren't you?" The answer is… always.
"The General" stated to the Lombardi Party of 1 in 2006, "You and I are the type of people that when we beat MS, we will just find another cause."
Leadership is learned, then earned, and never granted.
