In dedication to Carmella "Chubby" Lombardi, 1933 – 2010
Our team is more than the 17 members that will be walking in this year's MS Challenge Walk. We are an even larger network of friends, family, sponsors and supporters. On June 9th, Carmella Lombardi passed away. We walk in honor of her legacy of devotion to family and friends.
Our Challenge
Our challenge is twofold: training for a 3 day, 50 mile walk; and letting folks know that we need their help. Our team believes that there are many ways to promote the cause. Send out email, use your Facebook page, make phone calls, or just talk to people about our fund-raising events and why we need their help.
The National Multiple Sclerosis Society
The MS Society funds more MS research than any other private organization. They also provide much needed education, programs, and services to everyone who is affected by MS - including those living with and fighting MS, their friends and families, and the healthcare professionals who work with them.
A Lesson Learned
This is our fourth year and the key to our success is exposure. Of course we are trying to raise as much money as possible but our success is the result of the people who are involved. The Lombardi Party is not just the team of walkers in the MS Challenge Event. It is the donors, the sponsors, our friends, and especially our families who are always there asking the question, "You are going to do this again next year, aren't you?" The answer is… always.
"The General" stated to the Lombardi Party of 1 in 2006, "You and I are the type of people that when we beat MS, we will just find another cause."
Leadership is learned, then earned, and never granted.
